The Tacoma Anchor Network Local Procurement Working Group is focused on ending racist practices in economic development and preparing our region for a better future. We are data-driven, ready to learn and staying humble as we play the long game for real change.

This data dashboard is an important tool to help us achieve our learning objectives:

1. Understand current scale of local & inclusive purchasing
   • What level of anchor spending is currently going to local, diverse businesses?
   • Where are there opportunities to better support current and emerging local business sectors through anchor institution purchasing?
2. Understand the impacts of the data collection on the stakeholders (TAN institutions, as well as local business)
   • How does participation in local procurement data collection and tracking change the conversation about our institutions’ impact on the local economy?
3. Identify actionable and meaningful next steps
   • What policies and practices might build and strengthen relationships between anchor institutions and local, diverse businesses in order to increase our spending?
